SELECTION BREAK VS PAGE BREAK IN MS WORD
MS word offers different type of breaks to manage the layout of your document.Two commonly confused options are Selection Break and Page Break .Although they sound similer, their purpose is completely different.
WHAT IS A PAGE BREAK?
A Page Break is used when you want to start your content on a new page, no matter how much space is left on the previous page.
USES OF PAGE BREAK
- Starting a new chapter
- Shifting text to the next page
- Separating topics without changing formatting
- Useful in resumes, assigments reports.
HOW PAGE BREAK WORKS
STEP1:-Place your cursor where you want a new formatting should start.
STEP2: Go to Insert →Page Breaks (or press Ctrl +Enter)
STEP3:- Word immediately moves all content after the cursor to the next page.
WHAT IS SELECTION (SECTION) BREAK
A Section Break, often mistakenly called "Slection Break," divides your document into separate sections, each with its own formatting.
Uses of selection Break
- Changing page orientation (Portrait → Landscape→Portrait)
- Changing page margins for specific pages
- Adding different headers/footers in different pages.
